Frequently asked questions

What happens if a shipping container isn’t level?

An unlevel shipping container puts stress on the door frame, causing doors that won’t open, close, or seal properly. Over time it can also cause the container to rack — meaning the steel frame twists slightly out of square. Leveling at placement prevents both problems entirely.

Do I need to level my shipping container before delivery?

You don’t need a perfectly level site before delivery, but the closer the better. A few inches of slope across a 40 ft container is enough to cause door alignment problems. Have your leveling pads and hydraulic jack ready at delivery so you can correct the grade immediately after placement.

What size hydraulic jack do I need for a shipping container?

A minimum 20-ton hydraulic bottle jack works for most standard 20 ft and 40 ft shipping containers. The jack lifts the corner of the container so you can slide leveling pads underneath precisely. Always jack from the corner castings — never from the floor or sidewall.
